Fortnite Reaches a Historic Mark

Epic Games has reached another milestone with their infamous video game, Fortnite. After months on hiatus regarding their player base, this game developer announced that they’d exceeded 350 million players. That’s the highest volume of players for any video game, with Fortnite now exceeding past Grand Theft Auto Five and Minecraft.

Fortnite is a “Free-to-Play Battle Royale” video game that’s been available to consumers since July 25th, 2017. It’s available on numerous platforms, including the Personal Computer and MacBook. Availability of Fortnite extends towards Android, iOS, the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s an exceptional product that saw the Battle Royale mode become incredibly popular. Video games like Battlefield and Call of Duty have copied this concept since 2017.

Epic Games didn’t reveal the exact number of gamers that login daily to Fortnite. However, it was noted that throughout April 2020, more than 3.2 Billion Hours of this title was played by consumers worldwide. This popularity boost follows after Fortnite implemented new features, allowing for notable celebrities like Travis Scott to appear in a specialized mode. This boost was revealed before Epic Games announced their 2019 player base, which stood at 250 million players. This means that 100+ million players downloaded and registered for Fortnite over the last fourteen months.

The Social Royale

The most recent game modes available in Fortnite includes “The Social Royale”, which doesn’t support any violence. Instead, consumers are placed into a specialized version of the Fortnite map, which allows for theme park activities to be played and for concerts to unfold. Multiple artists notable to Generation X have held concerts on Fortnite, including Travis Scott and Steve Aoki. Fanbases behind these artists prompted the increased registrations for Fortnite, with the Social Royale continuously being updated to make this space more enticing for gamers. More massive names in the music industry are expected to appear on Fortnite before the novel coronavirus pandemic has concluded.

Fortnite is working towards a social network that’s engaged through their video game services. No brand has ever accomplished this goal to Epic Games 350+ million levels, with other platforms like GTA5 or Modern Warfare sharing less than 25% of this valuation.
