Destiny Two Beyond Light Postponed
The Video Game Industry has become plagued with postponements during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Workforces remain quarantined in their homes, meaning everyday tasks aren’t being completed under standard timeframes. Most home office spaces don’t maintain the required computing power to develop AAA+ games. This was proven again with the announcement that Destiny Two – Beyond Light, has been postponed until November 2020. Bungie’s upcoming expansion for their MMO Shooter was slated to arrive in September, with the development team needing an additional fifty days for completion. Bungie cited the COVID-19 pandemic for their postponement.
The Community Manager at Bungie, David Dee, provided a formal explanation for their decision. This explanation also gave a minor announcement that revealed “Beyond Light” is the 1st expansion of three coming to Destiny Two. Community Manager Dee iterated that their upcoming stories are immersive & will surround new features that Bungie is excited to showcase to their users. However, David clarified that there could not be an official release of Beyond Light until all complications are mended. Sentiments from Bungie’s Community Manager ended with their doing what’s best for Destiny users & giving them the game they had initially desired.
Pete Parsons, the Chief Executive Officer of Bungie, also gave minor clarification over their decision. His sentiments emphasized that the development team has struggled to complete work during the pandemic since March 2020. Pete emphasized that their team is working together to create new methods for developing, ensuring that a level of quality if provided to those who purchase Beyond Light.
Those wanting to purchase the Beyond Light Expansion must wait until November 10th. It’ll be the first edition into the “Season of Arrivals”, which is slated to sustain two years. Bungie has guaranteed its community that the 2nd entry into their trilogy series will maintain a lifespan of four to five years, which is similar to the original entry. Under this timeframe, fans can except the 3rd Destiny to arrive by 2024 or later.
What is Destiny?
The Destiny franchise was created after Bungie handed over their international property rights for Halo. Bungie would move towards the creation of Destiny, which hasn’t maintained the same level of popularity but still has a loyal community supporting all expansions.
