Silent Hill Reboot Coming to PS5

The Konami Company is known for its secretive behaviour, rarely releasing information regarding their upcoming titles. They’ll often dispute the existence of their in-development games to avoid the storyline being leaked. It’s almost impossible to prevent leaks all-together, with this being proven after an insider with Konami revealed that Silent Hill is receiving a “Soft Reboot”. Clarification in this announcement noted that a playable version of the reboot is accessible at Konami Studios.

This industry insider is Dusk Golem, who has previously leaked accurate information regarding the projects at Konami Studios. Most weren’t expecting this notable leaker to detail information on Silent Hill: The Reboot, with Konami denying the existence of this game as rumours began circulating online. This prompted Dusk Golem to contact his inside sources, where it’d inevitably be revealed that a new project was initiated for the PS5 when the Sony Corporation released dev Kits in 2018. Golem mentioned that this reboot would be exclusive for the PlayStation 5, with the release date pending Q4 2021.

Details regarding this reboot show that Keiichiro Toyama has returned as the Director & Writer. Returning team members that worked on previous Silent Hill Games include Masahiro Ito, who’s been the Art Director on three titles in this franchise. Akira Yaomoka is also returning as the Head Composes, ensuring that the cruel and ominous soundtracks that Silent Hill fans are accustomed to are returning.

Dusk Golem isn’t the 1st to reveal the existence of Silent Hill: The Reboot, with Masahiro Ito leaking his involvement in the development process. Tweets issued by Ito remarked his desire not to see this game cancelled, while also indicating that other unnamed studios are collaborating on the reboot. This could create a Silent Hill game unlike any other seen in the franchise’s history, allowing the reboot to cater towards modernized gaming.

The final tidbit noted in this leaked announcement revealed that Konami Studios would request player insight by the end of 2020. Helpful recommendations will be implemented to allow greater versatility in how gameplay is approached. We’ll provide our readers with more details when Konami Studios officially announces the existence of Silent Hill: The Reboot.
